Eye Care

Eyes are organs that detect light and convert it into electrochemical impulses in neurons. The simplest photo-receptors in conscious vision connect light to movement. In higher organisms the eye is a complex optical system which collects light from the surrounding environment, regulates its intensity through a diaphragm, focuses it through an adjustable assembly of lenses to form an image, converts this image into a set of electrical signals, and transmits these signals to the brain through complex neural pathways that connect the eye via the optic nerve to the visual cortex and other areas of the brain.

Types of Eyes:

Non-Compound Eyes

Simple eyes are rather ubiquitous, and lens-bearing eyes have evolved at least seven times in vertebrates, cephalopods, annelids, and crustaceans.

Pit Eyes

Pit eyes, also known as stemma, are eye spots which may be set into a pit to reduce the angles of light that enters and affects the eye spot, to allow the organism to deduce the angle of incoming light.

Spherical Lensed Eyes

The resolution of pit eyes can be greatly improved by incorporating a material with a higher refractive index to form a lens, which may greatly reduce the blur radius encountered—hence increasing the resolution obtainable.

Apposition Eyes

Apposition eyes are the most common form of eye, and are presumably the ancestral form of compound eye. They are found in all arthropod groups, although they may have evolved more than once within this phylum. Some annelids and bivalves also have apposition eyes.

Superposition Eyes

The next type is named the superposition eye. The superposition eye is divided into three types; the refracting, the reflecting and the parabolic superposition eye. The refracting superposition eye has a gap between the lens and the rhabdom, and no side wall.

Our eyes naturally lose its proper function as we age. Because of regular strain and some diseases, we might experience the loss of sight earlier in our lives.

Taking Good Care of our Eyes

Many people today are developing difficulties with their eyes as a result of computers as well as other unique machines. These units are not automatically the main cause of eye concerns; however the habits we form when utilizing them. Folks ignore proper eye care due to the length of time we spend on these devices.

Our eyes are very important parts of our body, as they quite simply make vision possible. We use them for hours and they usually get rest whenever we sleep. We can easily develop numerous eye difficulties when we carry on straining our eyes every day. It can be impossible for most to limit the application of technological devices, because it is part of their work. This does not mean you ought to forget about taking good care of your only means of vision. You possibly can stick to a few simple methods to maintain your eyes in good shape.
  • Maintain a balanced diet regime.
  • Steer clear of dangerous light rays.
  • Take short eye rests each hour.
  • Visit an optometrist regularly.
